There are many different ways of charging and cleansing gemstones and crystals.
To cleanse the stones there are several ways,
WATER,
Water neutralizes the negative energies that are inside the stone and return that to nature. Although natural running water, like a stream, is believed to be the best to do this with, one can also rinse the stone with tap waters. At while the process the stone must completely be submerged. After doing this for one minute per stone, pat dries the stone.
This process is best for hard stones, such as quartz. But not for the stones that are fragile or soft, such as selenite, kyanite, and halite
SALT,
After mixing a tablespoon of sea, rock, or table salt into a bowl of water completely submerge the stone into it, and allow it to soak for up to 48 hours after that rinse and pat dry when to complete the process.
This is useful for hard stones, such as quartz and amethyst but not for the stones that are soft, porous or contain trace metals, such as malachite, selenite, halite, calcite, lepidolite, and Angelite.
BROWN RICE,
To do this, filling a bowl with dry brown rice, bury the stone into the grains for 24 hours. The rice must be immediately disposed of after the cleansing, as the rice has absorbed the energy.
This is useful for any stone but It’s especially beneficial for protective stones, such as black tourmaline.

NATURAL LIGHT,
Put the stone out before nightfall and bring that inside around 11 a.m. Thus letting the stone to soak in the light of both the moon and sun. Also if possible, putting the stone on a touch of earth or nature will benefit with further cleansing. But letting the stone under the direct exposure of sunlight may harm the stone’s surface, so make it’s better to withdraw it before noon.
Once taken inside, give the stone a quick rinse to remove dirt and pat dry.
This is useful mostly for the tumbled stones but not for the vibrant stones, such as amethyst, in sunlight; soft stones, such as celestite, halite, and selenite that may be damaged by inclement weather
BREATH,
While exhaling the stone must be taken close to the nostril and inflicting forcefully the breath through the nose and onto the stone for about 30 seconds per stone, to bring the stone to its highest vibration.
This process can be used for small stones.
